European Standard EN149 FFP3. These standards exceed the US
N95 standards.
The FFP3 provides 99% particle filtration efficiency at 0.5microns and
above. Provided of course that is is worn properly and air tight around its
seals.
Masks should always in disposed of if used in contaminated areas and are
rarely designed for re-use. Dispose of by incinerating the mask if used in
infested areas.
These high quality respirators, face masks have been suggested for use in
particular environments where flu, SARS, Bird Flu etc have been an epidemic,
but one should consult the World Health
Organisation before making a choice of which respirator to wear.
There would be absolutely no point in someone with a virus to wear this
high quality mask because of the out flowing valve. Air is drawn from the
special fabric of the mask and exhaled through the automatic valve. An
infected person should wear a non valve mask.
